Our Story
Ripple Wall Light takes the same question that started Ripple, what happens when light moves through something rather than off it, and asks it of a wall instead of a tabletop.
It's built on the same design language: a scalloped, 3D printed PETG body, made to order in our Australian workshop. If you want the fuller story of how Ripple came to be, that lives in our Journal.
Design & Material
Mounted on the wall, Ripple becomes part of the architecture around it.
Light moves across the curved surface as you pass, revealing different reflections and shadows within each scallop. At certain angles, the translucent form takes on an almost liquid quality, with the light sitting across its surface rather than simply illuminating it.
Ripple Wall Light is currently available in the Classic Frosted style, giving the light a softer appearance and a more understated presence on the wall.
Each piece is 3D printed in translucent PETG in our Australian studio. Nothing is printed without a confirmed order, with pieces queued and produced in small batches before being checked by hand.
Styling & Living With
Ripple Wall Light works well as a single statement piece above a console or bed, or paired in twos flanking a mirror or doorway.
Mounting is flexible: screw it in for a permanent fixture, or use command strips if you're renting or don't want to drill. Either way, it's designed to come down as easily as it goes up.
A pendant version of the bracket is coming soon, for anyone who'd rather run a globe or cord of their own instead of the rechargeable LED module.
The LED module is the same one used in Ripple Table Lamp: cordless, USB-C rechargeable, with adjustable colour and brightness, gradient and flashing modes, and a remote-controlled sleep timer.
Product Care and Maintenance
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. The LED light module is a sealed, rechargeable unit, avoid submerging it or exposing the charging port to water.
This fixture is designed for low-voltage LED lighting only. It is not suitable for halogen or incandescent globes, which generate more heat than the PETG body is designed to handle.
FAQs
Why is Ripple Wall Light 3D printed?
3D printing lets us hold a level of sculptural detail that would be difficult to achieve any other way, and it means we can produce it in small batches rather than committing to mass production.
Do I need to drill into the wall?
Not necessarily. It can be mounted with screws for a permanent fixture, or with command strips if you're renting or would rather not drill. Screws aren't included, since the right type depends on your specific wall (plaster, brick, timber and so on), so we leave that choice to you.
Is there a pendant option?
An alternative bracket is coming soon. It's a 3D printed mounting part only, with no electrical components of its own, designed to accept a globe fitting or pendant cord supplied by you, either plug-in or hardwired. Hardwired installation must be carried out by a licensed electrician, and the bracket is suitable for LED fittings up to 5W only, to avoid heat build-up inside the fitting.
What is PETG?
PETG is a clear plastic known for its strength and printability. We chose it for how it performs, heat resistance, drop resistance, and how well the printed layers bond together, as well as its clarity.
Is every piece identical?
It's made in small batches, so you may notice very slight, natural variation from piece to piece. That's part of small-batch, hand-finished production, not a defect.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 10 hours of running time per charge.
How long does it take to charge?
A full charge takes around 4 hours. You can leave it plugged in where it sits, or remove the LED module and charge it wherever's easiest.
How long until my order arrives?
Because it's made to order, please allow approximately 3 weeks for dispatch.
